Workplace Trends — Integrated Insight Campaign
This project showcases how I approach large-scale, multi-brand campaigns: strong art direction, clear standards, and close cross-functional collaboration. The result is a cohesive, credible design system that scaled across nine industry sub-brands without sacrificing quality or clarity.
Background Context
I led the art direction, design, and quality oversight for Randstad US’s Workplace Trends series—an insight-driven campaign focused on workforce challenges across multiple industries.
The Workplace Trends guides combined original research, industry data, and editorial storytelling into visually rich publications designed to educate audiences and position Randstad as a thought leader. Each guide needed to stand on its own while also supporting a broader, multi-touch campaign spanning print, digital, social, email, and lead-generation channels.
This work balanced clarity and credibility with expressive storytelling, using layout, color, and custom illustration to make complex ideas more accessible.
Core Objective
Design a cohesive yet flexible visual system that could support a series of data-heavy insight reports—maintaining consistency across the campaign while allowing each guide and industry focus to feel distinct and purposeful.
Success meant translating dense workforce data into clear, compelling narratives aligned to both audience needs and business goals.
My Approach
I approached Workplace Trends as an integrated campaign and art direction challenge rather than a collection of standalone publications, with the priority of establishing a strong, scalable foundation others could confidently work from—allowing the campaign to grow without sacrificing quality, cohesion, or craft. My approach focused on:
Designing a modular layout system to support long-form editorial content and data storytelling
Creating custom illustrations, icons, and infographic elements to clarify abstract workforce trends
Developing distinctive cover designs and color treatments within a cohesive series
Establishing templates and visual standards to support consistent execution across channels
Partnering closely with copywriters and marketing partners to align visual hierarchy with key insights
Enabling freelance designers to execute assets independently through clear art direction, guardrails, and structured review cycles
Design System
The visual system was applied across Workplace Trends guide covers and interior layouts, custom data visualizations, social assets, email campaigns, landing pages, and supporting lead-generation materials.
The base templates, layout logic, and visual standards established for Workplace Trends later served as a reference point for Randstad’s annual Salary Guide, enabling that campaign to scale efficiently while maintaining visual consistency.
Each touchpoint reinforced a shared visual language while allowing flexibility by topic and industry.
Key Reflections
Workplace Trends demonstrated how strong art direction paired with system-led thinking elevates data-driven storytelling. Clear structure created space for expressive design, effective collaboration, and consistent execution across teams and channels.
It also marked a key moment in my evolution as a designer—recognizing how thoughtful systems enable scale without limiting creativity. That mindset directly informed my later work on larger, multi-brand initiatives and ultimately shaped my move into creative operations leadership.
